This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs the use of all Virtual Private Server (VPS) services provided by CloudStack. By purchasing or using any CloudStack service, you agree to comply with this policy in full. Violation of this AUP may result in immediate suspension or termination of your service without refund.
This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms & Conditions and applies to all customers, users, and any third parties accessing services through your account.
1. Overview
CloudStack provides dedicated Virtual Private Server (VPS) infrastructure — isolated cloud environments with dedicated vCPU, RAM, NVMe SSD storage, and bandwidth. Our infrastructure is shared at the physical hardware level but fully isolated at the virtualization layer using KVM technology.
To protect the integrity, performance, and security of our infrastructure and all customers, we require all users to adhere to this Acceptable Use Policy.
2. Permitted Uses
CloudStack VPS services may be used for lawful purposes including but not limited to:
- Hosting websites, web applications, and APIs
- Running development, staging, and production environments
- Operating databases, caching layers, and backend services
- Hosting game servers and media streaming applications
- Running CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
- Operating VPN servers for personal or business use (in compliance with local laws)
- Running eCommerce platforms and SaaS applications
- Data processing, analytics, and machine learning workloads
3. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited on CloudStack infrastructure. This list is not exhaustive — CloudStack reserves the right to determine what constitutes a violation at its sole discretion.
3.1 Illegal & Harmful Content
- Hosting, distributing, or transmitting any content that is illegal under applicable local, national, or international law
- Distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits minors
- Hosting content that promotes violence, terrorism, or hate speech
- Facilitating human trafficking, drug trafficking, or other criminal enterprises
3.2 Network Abuse & Cyberattacks
- Conducting or facilitating Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against any target
- Performing unauthorized port scanning, network probing, or vulnerability scanning of third-party systems
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any computer system, network, or account
- Deploying botnets, command-and-control (C2) servers, or malware distribution infrastructure
- IP spoofing or any form of network traffic manipulation
- Exploiting vulnerabilities in third-party systems without explicit written authorization
3.3 Email Abuse
- Sending unsolicited bulk email (spam) or operating open mail relays
- Conducting phishing campaigns or email fraud
- Harvesting email addresses without consent
- Sending email that violates CAN-SPAM, GDPR, or other applicable anti-spam regulations
3.4 Malicious Software
- Hosting, distributing, or executing malware, ransomware, spyware, adware, or any malicious code
- Operating phishing websites or fraudulent login pages
- Hosting exploit kits or drive-by download infrastructure
3.5 Resource Abuse
- Mining cryptocurrency without prior written approval from CloudStack
- Consuming excessive network bandwidth in a manner that degrades service for other customers
- Running processes that intentionally degrade the performance of shared physical infrastructure
3.6 Intellectual Property Violations
- Hosting or distributing pirated software, movies, music, or other copyrighted material
- Operating torrent trackers or peer-to-peer file sharing networks for infringing content
- Infringing upon trademarks, patents, or other intellectual property rights
3.7 Unauthorized Resale
- Reselling or sublicensing CloudStack VPS services to third parties without prior written authorization from CloudStack
4. Customer Responsibilities
As a CloudStack customer, you are fully responsible for:
- All activities conducted on your VPS, including actions taken by third parties you grant access to
- Ensuring all software installed on your server is properly licensed and up to date
- Securing your server against unauthorized access (strong passwords, SSH key authentication, firewall configuration)
- Monitoring your server for signs of compromise or abuse
- Promptly reporting any suspected security incidents to CloudStack support
- Ensuring your use of the VPS complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction
5. Enforcement
CloudStack reserves the right to investigate any suspected violation of this AUP. Upon discovering or receiving a credible report of a violation, we may take the following actions at our sole discretion:
- Warning: Issue a formal warning and require immediate remediation
- Suspension: Temporarily suspend your VPS service pending investigation
- Termination: Permanently terminate your account and all associated services without refund
- Legal Action: Report violations to law enforcement authorities where required by law or deemed appropriate
- IP Null-routing: Block network traffic to/from your server to protect our infrastructure
For critical violations (active cyberattacks, CSAM, malware distribution), CloudStack may act immediately without prior notice.
6. Reporting Abuse
If you believe CloudStack infrastructure is being used in violation of this AUP, please report it immediately. We take all abuse reports seriously and investigate promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy
CloudStack reserves the right to update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email and posted on our website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
By using CloudStack services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy.
